THE FIRST BESPOKE PERFUME

Created in 1853 by Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain, Eau de Cologne Impériale was the very first Eau de Cologne by Guerlain. Specially composed for the Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III, it earned its creator the title of "Perfumer to His Majesty". The Empress enjoyed the exclusive use of this fragrance before giving her authorization for it to be sold.
On its label, it bears the symbol of the Empire with the coat of arms chosen by Napoleon: the eagle, the imperial crown and the scepter.

Its bottle bears a constellation of 69 bees, the symbol of the Empire and the emblem of the Guerlain family of "Eaux". It can be customized upon request, hand-gilded and emblazoned with initials.

Also known as “Calabrian Green Gold”, this precious citrus fruit brings an exquisite green floral citrusy freshness.

NEROLI

The neroli essence is obtained by distilling orange blossom. A fresh floral, it is distinguished by its green and citrusy accents.

LEMON PETITGRAIN ESSENCE

The essential oil obtained by distilling the leaves and branches of the lemon tree enriches the zesty, botanical note.

Eau de Cologne Impériale was the first made-to-measure fragrance in perfumery, created upon special order of the Empress Eugénie to treat her migraines.

In 1853, Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain was appointed the official perfumer to her Majesty the Empress Eugénie. He created Eau de Cologne Impériale for her, along with the Bee bottle, custom-made by the glassmaker Pochet du Courval and covered in 69 bees, the emblem of the Empire. This legendary bottle continues to enshrine the elegance and history of Guerlain’s perfumes, revisited here in a sprayable version for the Colognes created by the five generations of perfumers.
