SHALIMAR
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME TIMELESS?
Few perfumes span ages and fashions without losing their aura. Shalimar – composed in 1925 – is one of them.
100 YEARS OF DARING
Shalimar is a Guerlain icon. A mainstay of its heritage and the emblem of its fragrance lexicon. The first amber perfume in history, this masterpiece created by Jacques Guerlain in 1925 celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

100 YEARS OF LOVE
A century after its creation, Shalimar remains a living legend. Between this consummate perfume of seduction and all the women who wear it, Guerlain has written the formula for a love story destined to last even longer.
SHALIMAR L'ESSENCE, AN ODE TO VANILLA
To celebrate the centenary of its masterpiece, Guerlain has composed Shalimar L’Essence.
More than a perfume, Shalimar L’Essence is a declaration of love. One made by Delphine Jelk, Guerlain Director of Perfume Creation and Perfumer, to the Maison’s heritage icon. And specifically to its most emblematic note: vanilla.
AN OBJECT OF DESIRE
Guerlain has reinterpreted the logo of its iconic bottle for Shalimar L’Essence. A nod to Art Deco, the artistic movement contemporary to Shalimar. Assembled in a bold graphic logo, the letters are crafted in a golden shade reminiscent of the perfume itself.
THE GUERLINADE,
THE ART OF VANILLA
It all begins with the Maison Guerlain’s signature fragrance trail: the Guerlinade.
One could say that these six raw ingredients – iris, jasmine, bergamot, rose, vanilla and tonka bean – are the base notes of each Guerlain composition. Guerlain has been using vanilla in excess since 1925. This was the year when Jacques Guerlain created Shalimar, one of the world’s first ambery fragrance.
