THE MÉTIER D’ART OF GUERLAIN MAKEUP
The Art of Guerlain Makeup, whose creation is directed by Violette, offers a vision of Parisian beauty full of life and energy. A tribute to the sumptuous colours of Nature, revealed in ultra-desirable jewel cases, it boldly expresses an intensified sensuality.
GUERLAIN, A HOUSE OF INVENTIONS AND INNOVATIONS
Since its beginnings, the House of Guerlain has developed an avant-garde repertoire. Its inventions include the first refillable lipstick, Ne m'oubliez pas (1870), the first lip liner, Bâton Lys (1909), and the first sun powder, Terracotta (1984).
NATURE AND ART IN INSPIRATION
Deeply attached to the House by her personal history and childhood, Violette resolutely embodies Guerlain values. Passionately committed, she is driven by a total love of Nature and Art as her primary sources.
COLOUR EXPERTISE, SKINCARE EXPERTISE
The House combines its skincare expertise with advanced colour research. Violette is a colour hunter: flowers offer the most vibrant variations. For the complexion, the House offers a wide range adapted to all skin tones, the result of several years of research. Its formulas are infused with the best skincare ingredients.
Guerlain creates the ultimate luxury accessories and has made collaborating with renowned designers a tradition. For example, the three superimposed “ice cubes” of KissKiss in 2005 and the compact foundation Parure in 2007, both designed by Hervé Van der Straeten, are truly precious jewel cases. In 2009, Lorenz Baümer made Rouge G a covetable contemporary accessory with a double mirror.
Behind each creation are marvellous manufacturing secrets handed down from generation to generation. Only five craftspeople in the world know how to create Météorites, a true artisanal craft. Mixed in the heart of a machine inspired by “dragée” candy-making machines, the loose powders are sprinkled with water and guided by the artisan's hand until they form pearls. After drying, those with a perfect size and roundness are the only ones worthy of a place in Guerlain's jewellery boxes.
Gold, the symbol of beauty and eternity, inspires Parure Gold. Incorporating a hint of 24-karat gold in its formula, it creates a complexion with a perfect radiance and exceptional hold. With Parure Gold Skin, the white peony is combined in an unprecedented way for a perfect fusion between makeup and skincare and a targeted action on the key factors of youth.
Inspired by a journey to the heart of the desert, Terracotta is the reference for sun powders. Like a veil subtly deposited on the skin, it reveals an instant healthy glow and a bespoke, sun-kissed tan all year round. In 2021, Terracotta reinvented itself in a natural way with new formulas composed of 96% naturally-derived ingredients¹.
A jewel case revisited by the Place Vendôme jeweller Lorenz Bäumer in intense colours, with multiple effects and exceptional hold... such is the eternal promise of Rouge G. It embodies the Parisian luxury of the House and since 2018, it can be personalised as required, according to moods or collections.
1870, NE M’OUBLIEZ PAS
In 1870, Aimé Guerlain created the revolutionary ''Ne m'oubliez pas'', the very first lipstick in stick form, an avant-garde object with a refillable case. A new gesture that ever since has been performed daily by women around the world.
1954, ROUGE G
Guerlain launched Rouge G and made red part of its vocabulary. In 2009, it was revisited by Lorenz Bäumer, a jeweller from the Place Vendôme, who made it into a jewel with a mirror-like case. Since 2018, it has become the first lipstick that can be personalised as desired!
Guerlain invents the mythical Terracotta powder. Literally “Terracotta”, it was created as a journey to the heart of the desert and establishes an unprecedented link between the earth and the sun, of which it captures all the reflections: from the earth to the skin, naturally.
A revolutionary controlled loose powder with a violet scent, in a box inspired by a Catherine de Medici powder case. Behind the scenes, an exclusive know-how, transmitted from artisan to artisan through long and meticulous training.
Created in 1994, KissKiss lipstick was reinvented in 2005. Intense shades, comfort, hold, everything is brought together in a jewel-like object, a masterpiece of design and technical prowess by the designer Hervé Van Der Straeten.
