15 years of research on skin longevity

The orchid, a rare and precious raw ingredient, is the very essence of the exceptional complete care range Orchidée Impériale.
A genuine longevity prodigy, the orchid is the most developed species in the plant kingdom. Convinced of its outstanding potential, Guerlain has set up its first ever research centre ever to be devoted to a single ingredient: the Orchidarium®.

The mission of this International Research Center devoted to the orchid and skin longevity is to discover, understand, study and explore the potential of orchids and their biological and cosmetic properties to benefit its research on skin longevity. Guerlain Research runs three interrelated and complementary centres:
The Experimental Garden — Geneva (Switzerland) A greenhouse where a collection of Guerlain orchids is housed in order to study and identify the most remarkable species.
The Basic Research Laboratory — Strasbourg (France) The first basic research unit dedicated to the study of orchids and the identification and analysis of longevity molecules.
The Exploratory Nature Reserve — TianZi (Yunnan, China) A nature reserve - a pillar of biodiversity and conservation - where wild orchids are protected and reintroduced into their natural environment.

The Longevity Concentrate is enriched with two natural origin ingredients* that offer skin density and perfecting benefits: - Tigernut extract for a redensifying effect**.

Tigernut sedge is a herbaceous plant belonging to the same botanical family as papyrus. Native to the Mediterranean basin, it grows close to water. The small tubers are used in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine for its numerous properties.

Rosa multiflora fruit extract acts on the pores***. Rosa multiflora is one of the best-known wild rose species in Asia, particularly in Japan. The hips are red to purple when ripe and contain a number of active molecules, in particular flavonoids.

*In accordance with ISO 16128 Part 1 and 2

***In vitro and in vivo tests on ingredient

Apply the Longevity Concentrate morning and evening after the Essence-in-Lotion and before the Orchidée Impériale Cream.

The massage technique devised by experts from the Guerlain Institute optimises the redensifying action of this serum:
1. Working outwards from the centre, apply to face and neck with circular movements.
2. Pinch the skin and give the wrists a quarter turn, repeating over the entire face.
3. Place your hands in a V shape on the lower part of the face and, moving upwards, apply pressure with a wave-like motion.
4. Tap with fingertips all over the face.
