In this combination of the chypre sensuality and the intimate facet of white musks with a bouquet of flowers, the symbol of a declaration of love, Thierry Wasser expresses the sensuous and romantic idea of the idyll.

Designed in 1853 by Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain for the Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoléon III, this precious bottle is adorned with the symbol of the Empire: the bee, which is now La Maison Guerlain’s emblem.

A legend of love’s whirlwind within a floral and patchouli bouquet

Idylle opens with a shower of flowers that combine in a fresh and joyful bouquet featuring lily of the valley accord, peony, freesia and white lilac. The heart of the fragrance reveals jasmine paired with a “communelle” of Bulgarian roses (a blend of different batches of essence. The base, a chypre accord worked around patchouli and white musks brings added sensuality.

PATCHOULI

Patchouli essence features many vegetal, woody and earthy olfactory facets.
Combined with rose, moss and bergamot, patchouli forms the base of the chypre accord.

Musks are skin-loving materials which by evoking clean, velvety scents teeter between innocence and sensuality. Their elusive powdery fragrance melds with the skin to develop into an intimate, comforting fragrance trail with exceptional staying power.

HOUSE SECRETS

To create Idylle, Thierry Wasser, Guerlain Perfumer, carefully selected the best Bulgarian roses, picked by hand in the Bulgarian valleys at dawn. They are brought together in a blend to express a unique, fruity fragrance with overtones of raspberry and lychee.

A LEGENDARY BOTTLE

Designed by Raymond Guerlain in 1912, its iconic “inverted heart” bottle is underscored with graceful scrolls typical of Art Nouveau. Its avant-garde stopper, in the form of a hollowed heart, evokes the delicate romanticism of this perfumery masterpiece and represented a real technical feat at the time.
