Chamade

In the time of Napoleon’s armies, generals communicated by drumbeat. There was a particular drum roll, called Chamade, which meant to beat a retreat. Who can say that their heart has never beat a retreat to the rhythm of Chamade? Created in 1969 by Jean-Paul Guerlain, Chamade illustrates this exceptional moment, when the heart surrenders to love.

CHAMPS-ÉLYSÉES

Created in 1996, Champs-Élysées is a thrilling breath of life and the promise of infinite love. The symbol of prestige and the influence of a city in perpetual motion, the Avenue des Champs-Élysées is the centre of this fragrance.

CHANT D'ARÔMES

Created by Jean-Paul Guerlain in 1965 for his young fiancée, Chant d'Arômes evokes the language of flowers, each one having a specific romantic meaning.

Idylle

Idylle... Light and airy, an unforgettable love affair, an impulse, an ecstasy. It is waking up with a smile and going to sleep with a memory. It is a thousand details, words and kisses. It is ardour and intensity. Created in 2009 by Thierry Wasser, Guerlain House Perfumer, Idylle is a love dream by Guerlain.

INSOLENCE

Insolence is a spark in the eyes, an intrepid smile. Insolence is a careless grace, an ironic elegance, an amused silence. Created in 2006, Insolence celebrates this surprising, free and daring femininity.

JICKY

In 1889, Aimé Guerlain created his first masterpiece, Jicky. It was classified straightaway as “the first modern perfume”. This complex creation was also the first unisex fragrance in perfumery. It marked a beginning of “emotive” perfumery, which no longer tried to copy the odour of flowers but instead aimed to stir the emotions.

L'HEURE BLEUE

"The sun has set, but night has not yet fallen. It’s the suspended hour… The hour when one finally finds oneself in renewed harmony with the world and the light," Jacques Guerlain liked to say. He was referring to his favourite moment, when "the night has not yet found its star". It was this fleeting sensation that he tried to express in 1912 with L'Heure Bleue.

L'Instant de Guerlain celebrates unique and moving moments of emotion. These instants are both fragile and marvellous, seemingly suspended somewhere outside of time in a place where one moment can change everything and anything becomes possible.

Mitsouko

In 1919, Europe was fascinated by Japan and the culture of the Far East. This was the moment when Jacques Guerlain named his new fragrance Mitsouko. Mitsouko means "mystery" in Japanese and symbolises passionate and mysterious femininity.

Samsara

Samsara signifies "eternal rebirth" in Sanskrit and is part of the "wheel of life", a religious reference of Tibetan Buddhism. It evokes the perpetual voyage from one existence to the next, an invitation to serenity and harmony. Created in 1989 by Jean-Paul Guerlain, Samsara is a homage to the woman of his life, his true revelation of love.

Shalimar

Four centuries ago, in India, Emperor Shah Jahan fell hopelessly in love with Princess Mumtaz Mahal. He had the enchanting Gardens of Shalimar built for her and dedicated the Taj Mahal to her as well, one of the seven new wonders of the world. This incredible tale sparked the imagination of Jacques Guerlain, who created Shalimar, the first oriental fragrance in history, in 1925.

Vol de Nuit

In 1933, Jacques Guerlain achieved an exceptional creation: Vol de Nuit. Inspired by the novel by his friend Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Vol de Nuit is dedicated to adventurous women who, like the famous aviator of the era, Hélène Boucher, nourished their passion for risk-taking and knew how to claim their place in a man's world without losing their femininity.
