BIOPHOTONS STUDY
During biological reactions, cells emit photons, also called biophotons. These particles, known as the elementary constituents of light, are emitted in very small quantities and carry a certain amount of energy. This phenomenon is known as UPE (Ultra-weak Photon Emission¹).
In the wake of these developments, Guerlain researchers have collaborated with a team of biophysicists from Palacky University, who have the research tool that are required to measure UPEs.
Together, they have demonstrated significant differences in UPE between young and old (senescent) skin cells (fibroblasts), making this phenomenon a real indicator of skin youth.
