SHALIMAR, AN ODE TO SENSUALITY
L'Eau de Parfum Shalimar is a mythic fragrance with bergamot, iris and vanilla notes ; an intense wake with a touch of impertinence, always glowing which embodies skin-caressing sensuality with a hint of the forbidden.
Inspired by the passionate love story between an emperor and an Indian princess, Shalimar, which means "temple of love" in Sanskrit, symbolises the promise of eternal love forevermore. It is a fragrance of desire.
In 1925, the Shalimar bottle designed by Raymond Guerlain won first prize at the Paris Decorative Arts Exhibition. Its curves were inspired by the basins of the famous Shalimar gardens. The fan stopper with its sapphire transparency recalls the garden's eternally gushing water.

Voluptuous and sensual, Shalimar Eau de Parfum opens with a breeze of flowers and bergamot, warmed with notes of iris, jasmine and rose. Vanilla, balsam notes and tonka beans meanwhile bring power and sensuality to this now-legendary fragrance. Also included are the notes that make up the famous “Guerlinade” olfactory signature, which is recognised for making many of the Guerlain house fragrances so unique.

As the essential raw material in the famous “Guerlinade” signature, vanilla is the key note found within Shalimar’s legendary fragrance, and dear to the Guerlain house. Sensual and luminous, it imbues skin with gourmand, woody, leathery and spicy aromas.

Building on the deep similarity between music and fragrance, Guerlain explores new ways to bring its creations to life through sound. Deep dive into a one-of-a-kind multisensory experience born from a dialogue between Delphine Jelk, Guerlain’s Director of Fragrance Creation, and the experts at IRCAM Amplify. Together, they began by translating the Guerlinade- the Maison’s signature fragrance trail - into a progression of musical chords. Jasmine, bergamot, rose, vanilla, tonka bean, and iris spring to life in an olfactory and sonic symphony—translating Shalimar into music.
