In 1914, the House of Guerlain arrived at 68, Champs-Elysées, at the heart of the newly opened thoroughfare that would go on to be named the most beautiful avenue in the world.
Construction work took place in 1914, led by the architect Charles Mewès, who was also the brains behind the Ritz hotel in Paris and the Carlton in London.
