    Eau de Parfum

A delicate and timeless olfactory poem

An ardent aficionado of opera, Jacques Guerlain couldn’t help but fall under the spell of Puccini’s Turandot. It is difficult to resist the charm of Liu, a woman as beautiful as she is heroic, for whom he composes this olfactory poem in which aldehydes play one of their most amazing roles. They dominate the head notes and, like cymbals, announce the entry of rose and jasmine, which brilliantly sing a melody of sensuality. Like a musical score, the fragrance had to mellow into calm and voluptuous notes. The challenge was met, as vanilla quickly harmonises its carnal accents with those of iris and wood.
The fragrance is showcased in the iconic Bee bottle, which exceptionally takes on an oh-so-chic 125 ml format.
    1929 re-edition.

    Aldehyde Floral.
    Rare, feminine, timeless.
    Top notes: aldehydes.
    Heart notes: rose, jasmine.
Base notes: vanilla, woody notes, iris.

After L'Heure Bleue, which introduced aldehydes into fragrance compositions for the first time, Jacques Guerlain uses these synthetic molecules again to compose Liu. A timeless and legendary fragrance in which aldehydes “make white flowers sing.”
